612 Scaglietti

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, named after the Modenese designer who mastered the automotive aluminum form, is designed to be the world's finest 2+2 seat sport coupé. In the long-standing tradition of Gran Turismo Ferraris, the goal is accomplished through high tech, avant-garde design. Styling is by Pininfarina, which advances the sports coupé paradigm while paying homage to the famed Ferrari 375MM Coupé commissioned in 1954 for Ingrid Bergman by Roberto Rossellini.

Built entirely of aluminum, which provides extremely high structural rigidity while significantly reducing weight, the 612 Scaglietti is a new breed of 2+2 sports cars. Compared with the outgoing 456M, the new 612 Scaglietti weighs 60kg less and has 60 higher rigidity/weight ratio, providing superior handling and road-holding capabilities. A car clearly in a league of its own, the 612 can carry 4 passengers in comfort and still achieve speeds and cornering forces most sports cars can only dream of.

The V12 engine in the 612 Scaglietti is positioned behind the front axle providing a mid-front engine layout which optimizes traction by placing 54 of the vehicle's weight on the rear wheels. Further enhancing traction is CST - Traction and Stability Control ⿿ a unit that governs all the car's safety systems (ABS, ASR and EBD) and the car's adaptive suspension to ensure maximum control. Of course, at the driver⿿s discretion, the CST can always be overridden for track use.

Space and efficiency complementing high performance are hallmarks of the new Ferrari 2+2 seater, which attains the highest levels of thrust and balance without sacrificing comfort and luxury. The 612 Scaglietti is the pinnacle of practical Italian automotive style with light but rigid all-alloy construction, a superb 397 kW at 7,250 rpm V12 engine displacing just under six liters, the new F1A paddle shift transmission, the first application of integrated stability and traction control in a Ferrari, an adaptive suspension including continuously variable shock absorbers, and a host of luxury appointments expected by the discerning drivers who count themselves amongst the Ferraristi. Grand luxury and exceptional functionality combine with supreme driving pleasure in the 612 Scaglietti, the Ferrari for more than two.
